Delve Into the Past…
The Genealogical & Historical Research Library is at the heart of our museum’s original charter, dating to March 1, 1878. Our library maintains family and property records for a seven county service area, including: Mason, Bracken, Fleming, Lewis and Robertson Counties in Kentucky, as well as Adams and Brown Counties in Ohio. Birth, marriage, death and cemetery records, census information, tax lists, deeds, city directories, diaries, family files, historical papers, business ledgers, newspapers, maps, and original documents dating from 1789 to the present are all available.
Additionally, our library houses over 30,000 cross referenced files, along with rare books and manuscripts, and a large cartography collection, which are important for historical research focusing particularly on Kentucky and southern Ohio.
Both professional and amateur researchers and historians are welcome! Assistance is available in person, by phone, or online.
